1. The 7-day free trial
When you sign up, we ask for a card and start your trial. We do not charge anything during the 7-day trial period.
You can cancel anytime during the trial from your dashboard. If you cancel before day 8, you are charged nothing — full stop.
On day 8, your card is charged for the tier you selected at signup. From that moment, you have an active paid subscription.
2. After day 8 — no refunds
Once your first paid charge has been processed, the subscription is non-refundable. We do not pro-rate, partially refund, or issue goodwill credits for unused days in a billing period.
Why we run it this way: our trial is genuinely full-access. Seven days using Leon, the dashboard, the AI receptionist — that is the decision window. If the product fits, you continue; if it does not, you cancel before day 8 at zero cost.
This is a tighter policy than some competitors. We chose honesty over a longer money-back window we could not realistically honour as a small team.
3. How to cancel
You can cancel at any time from your dashboard under Settings → Billing.
When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing cycle. You keep access to everything you paid for. At the end of the cycle, the subscription stops and your card is not charged again.
We do not issue partial refunds for the remainder of the cycle after cancellation.
4. Voice overage and platform booking fees
Voice overage minutes (£0.80 / £0.60 / £0.45 per minute depending on tier) are billed at the end of each cycle for what you actually used. These minutes have already been delivered to your customers — they are non-refundable.
Per-booking fees on online bookings (£0.20–£0.40 depending on tier) and on AI receptionist bookings (£0.30–£0.50) are charged only when a booking is delivered through our platform. Direct bookings — walk-ins and owner/staff entries — are free. Once a booking has been processed and the customer has received confirmation, the fee is non-refundable.
Marketplace commission (5–8% depending on tier) applies only to new customers acquired through the Mekkan client app. Once the booking has been completed and the customer has been served, the commission is non-refundable.
Membership commission (flat 10%) is charged once when the customer prepays the membership through Stripe Connect. The remaining 90% is paid out to the studio immediately. If the customer cancels the membership and Stripe issues a refund through Connect, our commission is refunded proportionally.
5. Annual plans
Annual plans are billed upfront for 12 months at the discounted rate (-15% vs monthly).
Annual plans are non-refundable after the 7-day trial. You can cancel future renewal at any time, but the current 12-month term will not be refunded in part or in full.
If you switch from monthly to annual mid-term, the change takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
6. Exceptions we honour
We will issue a refund or credit, at our reasonable discretion, in two situations:
(a) Sustained service outage. If Mekkan is materially unavailable for a continuous period that prevents you from running your business through it, we will credit your account pro-rata. Email support@mekkan.ai with details.
(b) Accidental duplicate charge or our billing error. We will reverse it as soon as it is verified.
Outside these cases, we do not issue refunds even when asked nicely. Treating everyone the same is the only way a two-person team can stay fair.
7. UK consumer rights
Mekkan is a subscription to a digital service provided by MEKKAN AI LTD (England & Wales). Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you ordinarily have a 14-day cooling-off period for contracts entered into at a distance.
Because our service is provided immediately on signup (you can use Leon, the dashboard, and AI features during the trial), by clicking through signup you consent to immediate provision and acknowledge that your statutory right to cancel ends once the service has begun in full.
The 7-day trial gives you a longer evaluation window than the statutory cooling-off period, at zero cost. We believe this is fairer to studios than holding cards for two weeks before they can see whether the product works.
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law that cannot be waived by contract.
