How payments work on Mekkan.

Three distinct money flows, powered by Stripe. Your studio is paid directly into your own Stripe account. Mekkan is the platform that runs the software — it does not hold customer funds.

  • Studio subscriptions are paid to Mekkan via Stripe.
  • Marketplace bookings and memberships are paid by the customer to your studio via Stripe Connect. We take a small platform commission at settlement.
  • Mekkan never sees full card numbers. Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1) handles the cards.
Flow 01

Studio subscription

Your studio pays Mekkan a monthly or annual fee for the platform.

  1. You pick the Mekkan plan and any add-ons (Talk to Leon, AI Receptionist) on the pricing page.
  2. Card is captured by Stripe Elements — Mekkan never sees the full card number.
  3. 7-day free trial starts. Cancel before day 8 from the dashboard and your card is not charged.
  4. On day 8 (or your renewal day), Stripe charges the tier price plus any usage from the previous cycle.

Flow 02

Marketplace booking

A customer discovers your studio in the Mekkan client app, books, and pays at checkout.

  1. Customer chooses a service in the Mekkan client app and pays via Stripe Connect.
  2. Funds settle into your studio's connected Stripe account, not into a Mekkan-controlled wallet.
  3. Mekkan deducts a 5–8% platform commission at settlement (tier-dependent), nothing else.
  4. You see the booking and the payout in your dashboard. Stripe handles the rest.

Mekkan operates as a Stripe Connect platform. We never hold customer funds.

Membership prepay

A customer prepays a monthly membership; Stripe Connect splits the payout in real time.

  1. Customer purchases a 12-month membership through your studio's Mekkan page.
  2. Stripe Connect routes the full amount: 90% to your connected Stripe account immediately, 10% to Mekkan as platform commission.
  3. The customer is locked in for the agreed term; renewals run on the same rails.
  4. If Stripe issues a refund, our 10% commission is refunded proportionally.

Stripe Connect handles split payouts. Mekkan does not hold customer funds at any point.
Trust and compliance

Stripe carries the regulatory weight.

We chose Stripe because it gives studios a payments backbone that would otherwise take years to build in-house — FCA authorisation, PCI-DSS Level 1, global card acceptance, fraud detection, and dispute handling, all behind one integration.

PCI-DSS Level 1
Stripe is the payment processor for every flow on this page. Card data never touches Mekkan servers. We store only a Stripe customer reference.
UK and EU coverage
Stripe Payments UK, Ltd. handles UK studios under FCA authorisation. EU studios are served by Stripe Payments Europe. We are launching UK-first and expanding to the EU.
Refunds you control
Studio-to-customer refunds (marketplace bookings, memberships) are initiated by you from the Mekkan dashboard or the Stripe Dashboard. Subscription refunds follow our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Disputes handled in Stripe
Chargebacks and disputes flow through Stripe's standard process. We surface them in your dashboard and notify you the moment Stripe opens one.
FAQ

Common questions.

Does Mekkan ever hold my customers' money?

No. Marketplace and membership funds flow customer → Stripe → your connected Stripe account. We deduct our commission at settlement; nothing sits with us in between.

What payment methods are supported?

Stripe supports all major card networks (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and bank-based methods like Bacs in the UK. Available methods depend on your Stripe Connect account's enabled capabilities.

How long until I receive marketplace and membership funds?

Stripe Connect payouts follow your connected-account schedule (typically T+2 to T+7 days for new UK accounts, faster once your account matures). Mekkan does not slow this down — the cash lands when Stripe releases it.

What happens if a customer's card is declined?

Stripe's Smart Retries attempt the payment up to three times over five days. You are notified at each step. For subscriptions, your studio's access enters a read-only state if all retries fail.

Can I see every transaction in one place?

Yes. Your Mekkan dashboard surfaces every booking and membership payment with a one-click link into the matching Stripe Dashboard record. Reporting is unified across direct, marketplace, and membership revenue.
